Green Taiwanese tea with strong woody flavour.
One of the many legends on this tea is about the poor farmer Wei, who passed every day a neglected temple with an iron statue in front of it. As he didn't have the means and time to restore the temple, he started cleaning the statue. One night the statue appeared in his dreams, leading him to a treasure behind the temple. This treasure was a young tea plant of which Wei started to take good care of. It grew well, so soon he could share cuttings with his neighbours and the area got wealthy by growing and selling the tea. With the earned money the farmers did indeed restore the temple of the 'Iron Goddess of Mercy' (Tie Kuan Yin).
