Yunnan tea is also known as Dianhong tea. Dianhong can be translated as Yunnan red tea, and is a type of gourmet Chinese black tea. Depending on the quality it is used separately or in blends.
The main difference between Yunnan and other Chinese teas is the amount of fine leaf buds – golden tips – in the dried tea. The leaves give a brew of a brassy golden orange colour with a sweet gentle aroma and no astringency.
