From Tukvar, a famous tea garden that produces tea with the special characteristic taste of a stronger Darjeeling.
Overlooking the magnificent snow-capped peaks of Mount Kanchenjunga – the worlds third highest mountain range – The Puttabong Tea Estate is located at an amazing spot. Planted in 1852 under the name of Tukvar Tea Estate this tea plantation claims to be the oldest in the Darjeeling mountains. It is certainly one of the largest with 5 divisions differing in height from 600 to 2300 meters. The water for the gardens comes mainly from the river Rangeet, that flows through parts of the gardens.
The gardens have been very particular in ecological upgradation and maintaining bio-diversity for many years.
